Des Moines, WA Waterfront Homes: What to Know Before You Buy

Des Moines flies under the radar — and that's exactly why I love showing it. You get marina life, ferry-style sunsets, and a downtown that's slowly waking up. Here's the honest local read.

Marina District

The walk from the marina to Anthony's at sunset is the closing argument for this neighborhood. Condos and townhomes near the waterfront have appreciated steadily. Inventory is tight — when something good lists, it goes.

Redondo

Technically straddling the Federal Way line, Redondo gives you boardwalk living, Salty's, and a beach community feel. View homes above the boardwalk are some of the best buys on the South Sound for the lifestyle.

Woodmont & Zenith

Quieter, more residential, larger lots. Great for families who want proximity to the water without paying full waterfront prices.

What I tell buyers

Des Moines is a 'lifestyle premium' market — you're paying for the walk, the view, the marina. Make sure the home itself isn't deferred-maintenance dressed up by a sunset. I do the cold inspection so you can keep enjoying the view.
